White Horse & Dragon: A Shamanic Equinox Journey to Balance Your Life

White Horse & Dragon: A Shamanic Equinox Journey to Balance Your Life
šŸ“… 21 September 2025 | White Horse & Dragon Hill, Oxfordshire

On the Autumn Equinox, day and night stand in perfect balance. It is a sacred threshold between light and dark, inner and outer, feminine and masculine, seen and unseen. The Earth itself invites us to shift from the fiery Yang of Summer into the nourishing Yin of Autumn – a season of gratitude, release, and deeper alignment with the cycles of nature.

This one-day retreat will guide you through the mystical landscape of the Uffington White Horse and Dragon Hill, a place steeped in ancient myth and shamanic power. Together, we will walk as pilgrims, moving through four sacred sites: Wayland’s Smithy, Dragon Hill, the White Horse, and Uffington Castle. , each opening the doorway to one of the Four Shamanic Worlds.

Along the way, you will be invited to connect deeply with yourself, nature, and the wisdom of ancient shamans — who knew that to live in harmony externally, we must first create harmony internally.

🌟 Why This Journey Matters

The Equinox is more than a day — it is a call from nature. Shamans were masters of energy and transformation. They understood that to change the outer world, we must first change our inner energy.

Shamanic wisdom has been carried through millennia across cultures, rooted in direct experiences with nature and spirit. It is a knowledge that has endured because it aligns us with universal truths of balance, harmony, and interconnectedness — wisdom as relevant today as it was for our ancestors.

Walking these sacred landscapes offers a direct, experiential connection to this timeless wisdom, inviting reflection, release, and renewal.

✨ Our Sacred Inner & Outer Journey

1. The Underworld | Wayland’s Smithy

A Neolithic long barrow wrapped in mystery, once believed to house a magical smith. Legend tells that if a traveler’s horse broke a shoe, they would leave the horse and a coin by the ancient stones. Upon returning, the coin was gone, and the horse was miraculously restored.

Here, we will explore the symbolism of sacrifice and renewal: how by offering something of value, we create space to receive new blessings. For shamans, the Underworld is not darkness to fear, but a fertile place of transformation.

2. The Middle World | Dragon Hill

Said to be where St. George slew the dragon, leaving a scar where no grass grows. For shamans, the Middle World represents life on Earth – the realm of challenges, choices, and creation.

Here, we connect with our personal power and the determination to face life’s struggles. Through guided practices, we’ll cultivate the shamanic energy known as kĆŗti – the force to act, manifest, and shape reality, stepping out of victimhood into the Spirit of the Warrior.

3. The Upper World | The White Horse

Carved into the chalk hills over 3,000 years ago, the White Horse is one of Britain’s most mysterious sacred symbols. No one knows who created it or for what purpose – just like Stonehenge, it carries a timeless invitation to connect with the unknown.

Here, near the eye of the White Horse, ancient people once came to set intentions and dreams into the vastness of the cosmos. We will gather in ceremony to do the same – releasing our highest visions and prayers into the Absolute.

4. The World of the Absolute | Uffington Castle

An Iron Age hillfort crowns the ridge beyond the White Horse, symbolizing the kingdom of Source, the Higher Power, the beginning of all beginnings.

Here, we conclude our walk in stillness and receptivity, receiving the blessing of the land and integrating the balance of Equinox into our hearts and bodies.
